The Nikkatsu Roman Porno Trailer Collection is exactly what it looks and sounds like. It's a compilation of trailers for a number of porno films released by producer Nikkatsu Roman through the 70's and 80's. It's Impulse Picture's answer to Synapse's 42nd Street Forever series.

So to start this off, it's about an hour in total running time. It's a short disc, chock full of various types of trailers, all ranking in entertainment value. Personally I've never gotten into trailer compilations, and after watching this, I still feel the same way about buying compilation discs in general. I prefer to rent them, and write down the names of the titles I am interested in only to check them out later. With this, it seems like this is more for the person who doesn't buy porn anymore (like all of America's youth today); the type of person who has discovered watching the 3 minute preview is a lot better than buying the full program when it comes to porn.

Besides that target audience, the other half of people buying this disc are the ones who love shitty porno's (Like me). With this you get basically all the best parts of these over the top sleaze fests in less than two minutes per movie. Some of the notable moments including: a woman shoving a squid into her vagina only to have it squirt ink on a man, a woman tying a man up accusing him of being gay threatening to shove objects into his ass, and many other degrading but disgustingly humorous things.

One downside to this, that is basically in porn everywhere, is that so much is repetitive. Though we get an ink blaster every now and then, we do get a lot of the same thing over and over again. Too many of these trailers are basically the same love story, with sometimes a comedic or action plot thrown in. With those re-occurring constantly, it gets boring. Though we get that, when pacing gets slow, something happens to catch your eye. Try to make out what is happening in the picture below and I will tell you that this happens more than once in this compilation.

As for extras, there's a short film that looks like it was shot in the late 1990's/early 2000's. It looks atrociously digital (due to the lacking budget of the porn industry today), but besides that, it's pretty much what you would expect from a(n almost full length) film from Nikkatsu Roman. I must say though, especially for the new age, there is optical blurring and other methods of censoring that are just awful, covering up about half of the screen. If you really want to see something hardcore with this disc, you're out of luck.

Overall, if you're like me, and love shitty porno's for the sake of shitty porno's, pick this up. Unlike other trailer compilations, the movies themselves for this will most likely be boring, the trailers on this disc really show the parts that make these types of crazy porno's good. Besides that...um stick with the internet.
